High throughput biopharmaceutical process development

High throughput tools are useful when exploring the almost limitless process variable space. The ability to extend an understanding to more regions of this space makes it more likely the optimal process solution will be approached. High throughput tools can be valuable for understanding every aspect of process development by identifying a highly productive recombinant cell clone, optimizing serum-free medium, feed formulation, and bioreactor conditions, developing purification scheme with greatest yield and purity, and formulation that results in the longest stability of a protein product. This presentation reviews the applications and results of high throughput tools for improving cell growth and product titers.
